Plant Problems

A lot of the time, plant problems are actually soil problems–lack of nutrients in the soil, or the plants are unable to access the nutrients that are actually there because nutrients are available at different pH levels.

Soil Nutrients under the Soil tab can be a first step in figuring out if pH or lack of nutrients is a problem.

A soil test is recommended before any action is taken such as adding fertilizer or changing pH.

Landscape for Life recommends choosing plants adapted to the local pH levels rather than changing the pH. With a vegetable garden, of course, this is not aways possible, as many vegetables may like a slightly more alkaline soil than you have in your yard.

In any case–more organic matter is usually recommended!
